New Hanover County Government Center

Wilmington, NC | 125,000 SF

In August 2019, New Hanover County issued a Request for Qualifications for the redevelopment of their Government Center to include a facility for county offices to maintain critical functions of county government, including an Emergency Operations and 911 Center. The redevelopment project for the 15-acre site is a public-private partnership that will provide a state-of-the-art, efficient hardened structure for county operations, while also providing mixed-use commercial and residential opportunities. New Hanover County owns the 15-acre site with the intent to build the new government facility on part of the site.

The County plans to subdivide the remaining acreage for a developer to purchase for a future development. The redevelopment project also features a private development component suitable to the site that will generate additional tax revenue for the county in perpetuity.

FD Stonewater has partnered with GHK Cape Fear, with FD Stonewater managing the Government Center redevelopment while GHK Cape Fear oversees the private development component of the project.
