Somerville Emergency Services Facility

Somerville, NJ | 45,000 SF

In August 2019, the Borough of Somerville, NJ, issued a Request for Qualifications/Proposals for the design, build, financing and sale/leaseback of an Emergency Services Facility. The new 45,000 square foot facility will relocate and house the Borough’s four fire companies, police headquarters, Office of Emergency Management, and elements of the Rescue Squad. The Borough invited proposed teams to demonstrate relevant experience and financial capabilities to allow the Borough to identify a development partner capable of undertaking a project of the required size, scope, and duration. FD Stonewater was responsible for the design and construction of the facility. At the conclusion of the 40-year lease term, the Borough will own the facility. Despite tumultuous financial markets in early 2022, FD Stonewater successfully secured project financing. Project team partners included Harve-Cleary (general contractor) and SmithGroup (architect). The project was completed on schedule and within budget in 2024.
