U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic

FD Stonewater is the developer for this 72,000 square foot U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ground-up outpatient clinic located in Toms River, NJ. The team worked closely with the Mayor and the Township’s administrative staff, as well as planning and redevelopment personnel, to ultimately attract the project to Toms River while offering the most competitive lease economics to the Department of Veterans Affairs. The new clinic will be critical for the region and the state, as it will replace a smaller, outdated facility and is located in Ocean County, a county with one of the highest veteran populations in New Jersey.

The new facility will reflect the “whole health” initiatives that the Department of Veterans Affairs is deploying nationwide and will deliver patient-focused healthcare services and comprehensive resources to the veteran population in this region. The design will encompass the Patient-Aligned Care Teams (PACT) principles, a team-based model of care in which a team of healthcare professionals works collaboratively with the patient to provide and coordinate the patient’s healthcare needs. FD Stonewater is partnering with SmithGroup for AE services on the project. SmithGroup has worked alongside the Veterans Affairs Office of Construction and Facility Management providing design and project management for many years.

FD Stonewater worked closely with the Township’s building department to devise a creative and efficient permitting approach in order to enact an effective construction schedule.
